Devastating effects of the storm-
Damages caused by storm named tornado was a very difficult experience for the resident of Boston. The peak of the wind was estimated 210 mile per hour. The storm spreads Moore, Oklahoma and adjacent area. It killed approximately 23 people and more than 377 peoples were injured. It destroyed or damaged 12000-13000 homes and affects the lives of 33000 people. The areas through which the storm passed have suffered catastrophic damage.
The witness told that the storm was like a big pile of rubble and people are seemed to be trapped in a freezer. Maximum destruction occurs in the west neighborhood of the medical center of Moore. The houses become flattened in a large swath. Two public schools named Briarwood Elementary School and Plaza Tower Elementary School were the hardest target of Tornado. When there was a hit of the storm 75 children including teachers were present in the Plaza Tower Elementary School. The injuries of nine people were fatal there. Although there was heavy damage in Moore's medical center no injury was found.30 patients were relocated by the medical staff to other hospitals safely.
Interstate were flooded and there was traffic jam by the people who were trying out to turn the storm. Due to storm the supply of running water and power was scattered. More than 100 people were rescued from debris. It was expected by the department of insurance Oklahoma that there may be more than $1 billion insurance claim by the affected people. A horse training center and a family farm were hit directly and caused the death of numerous horses.
It was estimated by some meteorologist that the amount of energy released by the storm is 8- 600 times stronger than the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima. Meteorologist explained storm as a conveyor belt of wave after wave coming of snow coming in over the Atlantic. The late winter storm brought snow, rain, and strong wind big waves with fear of coastal flooding. More trouble was caused by powerful waves and high wind than snow.
A dozen of street was flooded and emergency officials were worried that the morning high tide would make a great trouble than the evening’s low tide before the storm wind down. So the people in the coastal area were requested to evacuate their home before high tide coming. The trees and car were damaged and lowland areas were flooded due to local few amount of rain. There was high chance of beach erosion. It was very difficult to operate recovery work that was caused by the deadly tornado. Removals of debris were going out to clear the streets in the public area. The debris that includes a large number of tree limbs, metal pipes, giant oil drum, a stretch of chain link fence was dumped in the median’s crossover barriers.
Role of local government-
Local governor and president Barrack Obama announced for federal aid for affected people. Francis and several countries had offered condolence for storm victim. An offer to assist in rescue work was provided by United Nation. Canadian Red Cross had started collecting fund to conduct rescue work and to supply relief fund.
