After California, Massachusetts becomes the second state in the United States to declare a $15 hourly wage by the year 2023. So it will be a gradual increase from current figures of $11 an hour to $15 an hour in the next 5 years. This bill also approved paid family leave NX way for permanent sales tax holiday and brings an end to Sunday time and half-day pay.
The paid leave system will enable workers to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave to care for a sick family member or a newborn baby. It also gives a worker a maximum of 20 weeks in case they need leave on medical grounds for themselves.
We hope this is good news for employed drivers all around Massachusetts. As far as independent self-employed drivers like us are concerned they are not to benefit from any of the schemes unless they are employed in a company or government positions.
