Second Drone Sighting this week raises security concerns at Logan Airport

In a matter of serious concern to air traffic the frequency of drones intruding aviation space is on a rise. This may pose serious threat to flights if this goes unchecked.

This is the second time a drone has been spotted near Logan Airport. JetBlue plane about to make a landing at Logan airport spotted the drone and alerted the flight tower.

“Tower, FYI, we have a drone off to our right about 700 feet spotted several seconds ago,” said the pilot.

The JetBlue flight had a safe landing but it safety norms are being breached repeatedly around the Boston International airport. As for FAA rules the minimum distance that must be maintained is at least 5 miles and in this case it was much less than a mile.

Police are investigating this but with the advancement in drone technology and cheap drones flooding the market it will be further difficult to enforce such regulations.
